Demand for better rail connectivity to Capital gains momentum

Saturday, 24 July 2021 | PNS | Ranchi

BJP Parliamentarian Sanjay Seth recently met newly appointed Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav and placed a list of demands including expansion of rail facilities and improving rail connectivity in the Capital. Seth, listing out railway priorities in the State Capital, informed Railway Minister Vaishnav that in Jharkhand three railway zones function, so for better coordination between these three zones, a coordinating office should be set up with an appointment of coordinating officers.

Seth said that as Ranchi is the State capital, the office of coordinating officer should be set up in Ranchi. Seth said that with the appointment of a coordinating office it will be good in the interest of both railway and general public, at the same time it will lead to better coordination between rail related projects in the State.

The Ranchi MP also demanded train operation in the Lohardaga-Tori section of railway. He requested the minister to start operation of Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi or Garib Rath on this route three days in a week. Sanjay Seth informed the minister that during the Corona transition period, this rail line proved to be the best rail line for oxygen transport, becoming a life line.

He said that with the start of rail on the section, the distance between Ranchi and New Delhi will be shortened by three hours. Presently the train from Ranchi to Delhi moves through Ramgarh Barkakana section which is much time consuming. The Ranchi MP also demanded the operation of train services from Ranchi to Lucknow and Haridwar.

Seth also urged the Railway Minister that in view of the increasing cultivation of vegetables and fruits in Jharkhand, it is necessary to operate Kisan Rail from Ranchi so that the farmers' can get a good market of their agricultural produce. Farmers can easily send their crops to other parts of the country by train. Construction of an overbridge near the railway gate on Lapra-Ranchi main road and connecting foot over bridge at Mccluskieganj railway station was also raised by Seth. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav assured the MP that whatever work is of public interest will be considered prominently.

The Ranchi MP who is taking keen interest in infrastructure development of State Capital in the recent past has met several union ministers. Few months back, the MP met Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, placing the demand for construction of elevated road in Ratu Road area.   On the initiative of Seth, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has given technical approval for construction of an elevated flyover from Piska More to Zakir Hussain Park and Road Over bridge (RoB) at Nagri—the two major road projects which will upscale road infrastructure facilities in State Capital.
