Wednesday, 14 April 2021 | Prasant Das | BRAHMAPUR

Seeing the sudden surge in Covid cases in the city, from Monday onwards devotees have been barred from darshan of Maa Budhi Thakurani at the temporary mandap at Deshibehera Sahi during the ongoing Thakuarni Yatra. The district administration has imposed Section 144 of CrPC after two priests at the temporary mandap tested Covid positive.

Even Ghata Parikrama has been restricted for the rest of the days of the Jatra till April 16. As per the order, no devotee will be allowed darshan of the deity till completion of the Yatra.

The temporary mandap has been covered with clothes while 10 priests who are having Covid negative certificates have been engaged to conduct puja. Barricades have been erected end to end to restrict entry of devotees. Residents of Desibehra Sahi have been advised to show identification proof for movement. Devotees and local residents have expressed unhappiness over denial of darshan of Maa Budhi Thakurani, the presiding deity of the town.
