DPR staff on ‘pen down’ strike

Wednesday, 13 October 2021 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

On the call of the Chhattisgarh Public Relations Officers Association, Public Relations Officers (PROs) and departmental employees across the state went on a one-day pen-down strike on Tuesday.

Work in all district offices including the Directorate in Raipur was affected. The Chhattisgarh Gazetted Officers Association expressed support to the strike by working with black bands.

On October 11, the PROs and employees worked by wearing black bands in protest, an association communication said.

The association has demanded the axing of the appointment of a State Administrative Service (SAS) officer as Director, Public Relations.

It said that an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) or a senior officer of the Public Relations department should be appointed instead.

Similarly, in Chhattisgarh Samvad, a subsidiary organization of the department, the appointment of officers of SAS or other cadre on deputation should be cancelled and the posts should be filled by those from the PR department

Due to the strike, no coverage of government programmes, news compilation and distribution took place on Tuesday.

The Association said in a statement that even after the symbolic strike, the officers will work by wearing black strips till their demands are not met. If needed, the association will go for an indefinite strike.
