Dr Khoobchand Baghel was a visionary for Chhattisgarh and a symbol of self-esteem, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Monday.
Paying tribute to the departed leader, Baghel said Dr. Baghel wanted people of the state to lead a life of self-respect, be self-reliant and progress in all walks of life.
The Chief Minister was addressing an event to mark the 52nd death anniversary of Dr Baghel in village Pathri (Dharsiwa) in Raipur district, an official communication said.
Baghel said Dr Baghel fought for the identity of state residents and against social evils. He was a strong proponent of Chhattisgarhi culture.
He formed the ‘Chhattisgarh Bhaatru Sangh’ in 1967 and raised the demand for a separate Chhattisgarh, said the Chief Minister.
Baghel announced that a road connecting village Pathri will be converted as a two-lane road and a statue of Dr Baghel will be put up at the main square at Nava Raipur.
