nThere was an 18.86 percent fall in malnutrition cases among children in Chhattisgarh while this went up in 21 other states in the country.
A press communiqué on Thursday said that over 1.5 lakh children were freed from malnutrition in the past two-and-a-half years as per the ‘Weigh Festival’ held in the state in July 2021.
All this happened due to the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan launched on October 2, 2019, the statement said.
The coordinated effort of various schemes helped in eliminating malnutrition among children. As per the National Family Health Survey-4 (NFHS-4), Chhattisgarh recorded an 18.86 percent fall in cases.
In July, 22 lakh children were weighed in the state from which the rea -time data was taken. Services of external agencies were taken to certify the data, the communiqué added.
As per the survey done in May 2021, a total of 140,556 children in Chhattisgarh came out of the grip of malnutrition.
