Student Congress activists on Thursday hurled eggs and waved black flags at the carcade of Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi at Balipatna Square on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar to protest unemployment and rise in fuel prices.

State Student Congress president Yasir Nawaz said, “Unemployment has reached its peak in the country. The Bhubaneswar MP has not done anything to provide employment to the youths of the Smart City.”

“Besides, the rise in the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas has made our lives difficult. It has become very difficult for the youths to sustain themselves. We resorted to egg attack on Sarangi as a mark of protest and will continue to do so in the future,” he warned.

However, following the incident, a complaint was filed at the Balipatana police station by the MP’s representative Dhaneswar Barik. Two persons were detained based on the FIR. Meanwhile, Youth Congress members led by State president Smrutiranjan Lenka held a demonstration at Raj Mahal Square to protest the rise in fuel prices.

Lenka said the Modi Government has cheated the people and ditched the youths to increase the wealth of Ambanis and Adanis.
