If a person has primary symptoms of dengue, he must go for ELISA (enzyme-linked immunoassay) test for confirmation, Dr Subash Mishra, Director (Epidemic), Chhattisgarh, said on Monday.
There is a need to adopt special measures to prevent dengue, which is caused by Aedes mosquito, he told the media.
People should not allow prolonged storage of water in and around the houses and maintain cleanliness, he said.
He said generally a dengue affected person can recover within five days. Senior citizens, children, pregnant women and persons with comorbidities need to be hospitalized.
The Chhattisgarh government has made free ELISA tests, treatment and hospital facilities for dengue patients.
