Encouraging Chhattisgarh players so that they shine nationally and globally is the government's top priority, Higher Education, Sports and Youth Development Minister Umesh Nandkumar Patel declared on Saturday.
He said efforts are on to provide world class facilities to sportspersons from the state.
Patel was speaking after inaugurating the 19th State Level Shooting Championship organized by the Chhattisgarh State Rifle Association at Mana Shooting Range of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force’s 4thh Battalion.
He said the Sports Academy is operating in Raipur and hostel facilities are being considered. For rural areas, three practice schemes have been started in each Gram Panchayat, an official communication said.
Patel said that under the Khelo India scheme, multi-purpose indoor halls are being built at Ambikapur and an artificial athletic track is coming up at Mahasamund.
The state level 19th shooting Championship covers 10 meters, 25 meters and 50 meters rifle pistol competitions for women, men and different age groups. It will be held till March 6.
Those scoring the desired points will be selected for the East Zone Shooting Championship in West Bengal from March 11 to 14. The winners there will be picked for the National Shooting Championship in April.
