Senior Congress leader Chandrasekhar Majhi, who joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) here on Wednesday, a day after resigning from his old party.The former MLA of Kotpad in Koraput district joined the ruling party at a special event held in presence of several senior leaders, including Pratap Deb, Pranab Prakash Das, Subash Singh, Ramesh Majhi and Rabi Narayan Nanda. Notably, Chandrasekhar Majhi’s uncle Sabudev Majhi had won Kotpad seat eight times. After his health condition started deteriorating, Congress chose Chandrasekhar for constituency. He won t he Kotpad seat on a Congress ticket in 2014 elections. However, he was defeated by his BJD rival Padmini Dian in 2019 polls.
