Former Member of Parliament and State secretary of Communist Party of India Bhuvneshwar Prasad Mehta has demanded from the State government to provide compensation of 10 lakh rupees to the relatives of journalists, who died due Corona in the State. Mehta has demanded security kits to the journalists, who are working in the field during the COVID period.

Mehta has mentioned in a letter that there are so many journalists, who are doing their job on minimum salary. There are some journalists in the State, who are not getting even a single paisa from newspaper management, he stated.

The journalists in this State are performing their duties in this COVID period without caring for their lives. In this situation the State government has to honour the journalists and help them in the treatment. Those who lost their lives in this period, their kin must get the compensation of 10 lakhs rupees immediately, he said.

Mehta has demanded security kits for journalists. He said that the journalists of India are serving the society as well as saving democracy.

The Hazaribag press club president Umesh Pratap has also written a letter to the state government through the deputy commissioner on the same issue. He said that half a dozen journalists of Hazaribag have lost their lives during the second phase of Corona. He has also demanded compensation for the kin of journalists, who lost their lives.
