Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday said there is a need to expand and strengthen the cooperative movement in the state.
Along with farmers, labourers and cattle owners, tribals from forest areas should be linked with cooperative banks, he said. It can help everyone to earn bank facilities. Baghel was addressing virtually the investiture ceremony of Nawaz Khan, the newly appointed Chairman of the District Cooperative Central Bank at Rajnandgaon, an official communication said. The Chief Minister announced construction of co-operative bank buildings in village Manpur and Mudhipar (Khairagarh) in Rajnandgaon district. Each building will cost Rs 36 lakhs.
He added that his government is making all efforts to ensure continuous supply of chemical fertilizers despite a fall in supply from the Central government.
More farmers should adopt organic farming, horticulture and pulse production using vermicompost, he said, adding that this would provide better price in the market.
