Eyeing 2022 elections, Cong leaders pretending to demand justice in sacrilege cases: AAP

Monday, 24 May 2021 | PNS | Chandigarh

Lashing out at Punjab Government, the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) senior leader and the Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Harpal Sing Cheema on Sunday said that now with 2022 elections looming, Chief Minister CaptAmarinder Singh and his Ministers are pretending to be in a tussle to divert the people’s attention.

“By running sand and mining, transport, drug, land and liquor mafias in his government for over four years now, the Congress Ministers and leaders are trying to fool the people by pretending to be truthful,” he said.

Cheema said that AAP had from the very beginning raised its voice against those who had disrespected Sri Guru Granth Sahib and against those who defended the accused, but now the Congress Ministers and leaders who are pretending to be true; never supported AAP on this issue.

Taking a dig at the Congress Ministers, Cheema asked them to tell what pressure they had put on the Chief Minister apart from making press statements to get justice for the Guru Granth Sahib sacrilege.

Cheema said that the people of Punjab were now aware and would retaliate against the leaders responsible for their Guru's disrespect and those who saved the accused.

Talking about the questions being raised by the Congress MLAs against Capt Amarinder, he said that the people of Punjab are now disturbed by the “bogus” statements and are hoping for a meaningful step.

“Navjot Singh Sidhu and Pargat Singh are raising questions against their government but they are still holding the seat of MLA,” said Cheema adding that Sidhu and Pargat Singh should immediately resign from this mafia and the Government which was protecting the culprits for desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
