The Excise Department Intelligence unit busted a fake liquor manufacturing unit at Truptinagar under the Bada Bazar police station here on Saturday.
Acting on inputs, excise officials conducted a raid at the duplicate liquor production unit and seized huge quantities of liquor, spirits, essence, fake stickers of reputed India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) brands, empty bottles and other machinery.
Five persons were arrested in connection and they were forwarded to court later in the day, said sources.
The busting of the fake liquor unit is part of a series of raids on adulterated food manufacturing units which were sealed by the district administration. Earlier, units manufacturing adulterated sauce, soft drinks and packaged drinking water were unearthed in Brahmapur.
