Fifth Tribal Literature Festival concludes

The fifth Tribal Literature Festival concluded on Saturday at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal. On this occasion Padmasree Haldhar Nag gave his deliberation in his own language that is Sambalpuri, though it is not a constitutional language but he is very proud of it and create a lot of literature in his own language.

While narrating the tribal culture of his region he recite a song of Nuakhai festival.Nuakhai, an important social festival of western odisha. It is celebrated to welcome the new crop of the season. First produce is offer to their land of goddess.

While celebrating the festival Sambalpuri dance dalkhai is performed. While reciting the song he said a clear picture about their society, culture, tradition, lifestyle can be very well expressed in the from of their songs, dances, musical instruments, rituals etc.

Chief guest of the closing ceremony Mukesh Mishra, Director, Dantopant Thegdi, Research Institute, Bhopal said that there is a wealth of esoteric literature in tribe origin stories. There is a great need for research in this.

Tribal literature can be enriched by bringing forth gems like Haldhar Nag. Today, in the face of the current challenges in the country, the responsibility of tribal youth writers and creators has increased. They should come forward to create such literature which can strengthen national unity.

In Saturday's first session, Laxman Singh Markam of Jabalpur on the topic of Tribal Language and Literature Contemplation of Young Tribal Writers said that there is a need for dialogue between other language-literature from the knowledge-tradition inherent in tribal and regional language, only then will we be able to understand each other's culture and sensibilities.

There is a need to bring to the fore the literature of tribal language, culture and traditional knowledge by translating it into Hindi, English and other Indian and foreign languages.
