Five dead after consuming spurious liquor in Jaitpur

Five people died while four others were critical after consuming spurious liquor in Jaitpur area of Ambedkarnagar after which they were taken to a private hospital for treatment.
On being informed about the tragedy on Tuesday, Samajwadi Party MLA from Jalalpur reached the village after the incident and it was then that the local police took cognisance and initiated legal action. As per reports, some residents of Shivpal village brought the intoxicant from Azamgarh and about a dozen locals and some residents of neighbouring Makhdumpur village shared the alcohol on Monday night after which everyone’s health deteriorated. While four deceased were natives of Makdoompur, another was from Shivpal village. The bodies of the three deceased were even cremated by their kin. Police managed to seize two bodies and sent them for autopsy.
The role of Excise department and local police personnel came under fire once again after the incident. An inquiry was initiated on the matter at the behest of the DM.
Meanwhile in Maharajganj, a car carrying members of a marriage party collided with a truck in which five car occupants were killed and two others were critically injured. The incident took place near Karahiya bridge on Farnda-Maharajganj road late on Monday night.
Two of the injured were referred to the medical college in Gorakhpur from Maharajganj district hospital. The driver of the car was driving at high speed after which he lost control and rammed into the truck coming from the opposite direction.
The police later said that Kamlesh of Tola Leelachhapar of Farenda area in Maharajganj district got married on Monday. His relatives were going to a village in Campierganj area of Gorakhpur after the function. A total of eight persons were crammed into a car and as it reached Karahiya bridge, the vehicle collided with the truck coming from Farrenda.
The deceased were identified as Mithilesh, Sugriva, Sudesh Kumar and Raju of Harpur whil,  Nikhil, Shailesh, Krishnamurari and Abhishek were seriously injured. The injured were rushed to District Hospital where Abhishek died.  A case was registered in this regard and the bodies were sent for autopsy.
