Tension prevailed in the Sindhyawa area of Jagdishpur in Amethi after five members of a family were critically injured when they were shot at by political rivals on Wednesday evening. The injured were later rushed to a nearby community health centre from where they were referred to the Trauma Centre of King George’s Medical University in Lucknow.
ASP of Amethi Vinod Kumar Pandey said that the police has not received any complaint in this regard so far but after enquiring about the assailants from neighbours police teams were raiding their possible hideouts. Also, sensing tension in the area, additional force was deployed to avert any exigency.
As per reports, Samiullah of Sindhyawa locality was having a roza iftar with his family members on Wednesday evening when his old political rival Mohamed Suhail stormed his house along with half-a-dozen henchmen. The miscreants opened fire in which Samiullah’s son Shanu (30), his nephew Mohammed Haseen Khan (33) and Kalimullah were critically injured. When Samiullah’s wife Sannu and nephew Salman rushed to rescue the victims, the miscreants brutally attacked them with sticks and rods causing grievous injuries. On hearing the gunshots, local villagers rushed to Samiullah’s house after which the assailants fled the scene.
