Folk singing performed on last day of ‘Vishwarang-2021’

The conclusion ceremony of the biggest art and literature fest ‘Vishwarang-2021’ on Sunday was made unforgettable by the performance of popular playback and folk singer Mame Khan. With his soulful tracks like kesariya balam padharo mhare desh… Luk Chup Na Jao Ji……..Chaudhary, Aawe Re Hichki…, and Sanu Ek Pal Chain Na Aawe…, he held the audience spellbound.

Mame Khan, who hails from Rajasthan, has been playback singer for numerous Hindi films such as Luck By Chance, I Am, No One Killed Jessica, and Sonchiriya. He was featured on Coke Studio @MTV along with Amit Trivedi, the duo performed the track Chaudhary. He received the Best Folk Single Award at Global Indian Music Academy Awards (GIMA) 2016. A prominent Kathak dancer Kshama Malviya along with 50 artists gave a 45-minute dance performance on the composition of poems by Santosh Choubey. Meanwhile, the third edition of Vishwarang closed with a promise to meet again with more delightful and amazing performances.

In the first session of the day, movies 'The boy who drew cats' based on a Japanese tale and 'The monkey king' a Hong Kong action film, were screened.Director Amol Gupte focuses on inculcating movie watching habits among children.

In another session, Sudip Sohni, Co-director of Vishwarang interviewed the screenwriter, actor and director Amole Gupte. Gupte is known for his work on Bollywood films like Taare Zameen Par, Stanley ka Dabba, Kaminey and others.

Amole Gupte said that he has found his ‘last beach’ – his destiny – among children. He added that he felt safe and happy with children, because they are honest. He has made the children his guardian, saying that he would like to work for the problems of those who do not have voting rights and wanted to bring their problems before everyone. Gupte further said that he always wanted to stand by children as by staying among children, lower downs his frustration level.

In the interview session, he also said that item numbers, being made nowadays, are posing adverse effects upon the minds of children. Only watching the Superhero movies will not help in a child’s development, children should inculcate the habit of watching world cinema from a young age. Amole Gupte believes that films should be taught as a subject in schools like physics and chemistry.

Movies play vital role in shaping personality: Soumitra Ranade In another interview session, Sudip Sohni talked to critically acclaimed screenplay writer and film director Soumitra Ranade. Ranade has given us films like Jajantaram Mamantram, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyun Aata Hai, Goopy Gawaiya Bagha Bajaiya, Hamara Hero Shaktimaan. He expressed happiness at being present at the festival. He said that we desperately need platforms like ‘Vishwarang’ as a film can make a huge difference in one's life. Movies play a vital role in shaping our thinking and our personality.

Ranade said that every child is different, but there is some similarity in all children. Whenever he writes a story, he keeps the child inside himself alive and if that story does something to him, then he understands that the children are going to like the story very well. He also said that the film should not be just a means of entertainment, it is necessary that we get to learn something from the film.
