Formalities to set up NDRF Battalion HQ at Balh will be expedited: Himachal CM

Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday said that all the required formalities regarding identification and transfer of land for setting up of NDRF Battalion Headquarter at Balh in Mandi district would be expedited so that the Battalion could start functioning smoothly.

Thakur disclosed this while presiding over the meeting with Commandant NDRF Baljinder Singh and other senior officers of the State Government.

The Chief Minister directed the Revenue Department to take all necessary steps in this direction and also asked the Forest Department for getting FCA approval at the earliest.

He said the Government of India has sanctioned a new NDRF 14th Battalion for the State keeping in view the geographical conditions and disaster vulnerability of the area. This would ensure prompt response in case of natural calamities, he said.

 Thakur said that NDRF Regional Response Centres (Companies) would also be established in about six places of the state.

One company would be established at Baddi to deal with any chemical hazard as this area had maximum industrial factories, he added.

Commandant NDRF Baljinder Singh apprised the Chief Minister about various activities of the Force.

The Chief Secretary Anil Khachi, Additional Chief Secretary Revenue RD Dhiman, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister JC Sharma, Special Secretary Revenue Sudesh Mokhta and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.

CM TO PRESIDE OVER MLAs PRIORITY MEETING ON JAN 28, 29

Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur would preside over the meeting with MLAs for fixing their priorities in the annual budget for the year 2021-22 on January 28 and 29 at HP Secretariat.

An official spokesman said that the meeting with MLAs of Solan, Sirmour and Shimla districts will be held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm while meeting with MLAs of Mandi, Kullu and Bilaspur districts would be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on January 28.

The meeting with MLAs of Kangra and Kinnaur districts would be held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm whereas the meeting with MLAs of Chamba, Una, Hamirpur and Lahaul-Spiti districts would be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on January 29, the spokesman said.

The priority demands of MLAs would be considered in the meetings so that these could be incorporated in the budget 2021-22, he said.

The spokesman said that the issues such as economic measures, generating financial resources and better administration would also be discussed with the MLAs in the meeting.
