The Town police have nabbed four members of a burglars’ gang at Ekanakhandi bridge on the Gandakhia-Santasahi road and seized bronze idols, sharp weapons and a car from them. While night patrolling was intensified on Saturday across the district with bike and vehicular checking at all the entry points to nab mobster Hyder, who sneaked from the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack recently, the constables deployed at Ekanakhandi post nabbed the four burglars.
Constables Sumant Kumar Jena and Chandrabhanu Rout were conducting bike and vehicular checking with the help of a bike patrolling team when they came across an alto car coming from Kansar direction at around 2.30 am. They stopped the car and started checking the vehicle.
Six persons were on board the car. While checking the dickey, they stumbled upon bronze idols of different goddesses. A Salagram was hidden in the dickey, besides half a dozen of sharp edged weapons and an iron rod.
Police seized them all. While the miscreants were trying flee the spot, the police managed to overpower four whereas two others escaped. SP Madkar Sandeep Sampat praised the constables for their courageous act
