Four held for running IPL betting racket

Chhattisgarh Police arrested four persons for running an IPL betting racket from two places in Raigarh district.

Raigarh Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh on Tuesday told The Pioneer over telephone that Vishnu Agarwal (61), Rishi Agarwal (58) and Suresh Agrawal (54) were arrested from Lal Tanki area. Rohit Butani (25) was held from Sindhi Colony in Raigarh town.

All four are residents of Raigarh district.

Police seized an LCD TV and Rs 47,000 in cash from the first three while a mobile phone and Rs 7,200 in cash was recovered from Butani.

Police also found betting records detailing transactions totalling Rs 14.5 lakh.

The four had placed bets on an IPL match between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab on Monday night from the houses under the City Kotwali police station limits in Raigarh, the officer added.
