The private schools will charge full fees only when the students will attend the schools. This was stated by the senior vice president of Principals Progressive Schools’ Association (PPSA) D S Mann on the speculations of various parents that schools will charge full fees even from those students of class X and XII who did not attend the physical classes at all after the lockdown period. Recently, several parents association stated that they are against the recent decision of the State Government according to which, the parents will have to deposit the fees of class X and XII students since the schools reopened.

Meanwhile, the president of the National Association for Parents and Student Rights (NAPSR) Arif Khan said that it is also unacceptable to parents that the private schools will form committees to determine the effect of Covid-19 pandemic on their financial status. Khan questioned, "On what grounds they will determine the financial stability of a family?" He pointed out that as per the rules, the chief education officer (CEO) has the right to inquire but if the administration wants to determine the impact of the pandemic on the financial condition of parents then government authorities and a member of parents association should also be included in the committee besides school management.

Meanwhile, PPSA asserted that there were only a handful of schools that actually reopened last year as a very few students attended these schools forcing  most of these schools to be closed again. The association clarified that the schools will charge full fees only when they will provide full services to the students as according to Mann, the idea is not to fleece the parents but to charge them appropriately
