The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a gang of four men, allegedly involved in more than 100 burglaries across the country. Police said that all are Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally settled in India since the last few years and due to lack of education and to make easy money, they took to crimes.
The accused have been identified as Rafiq Laskar, (33), Md. Salim, (26), Ajizul Rehman (25) and Md. Razzak, (36).
According to Shibesh Singh, the Additional Commissioner of Police, Crime, on Monday, a tip-off was received that some burglars would gather in Arun Jaitley Park, Siri Fort Road, and might commit a burglary in the posh area of Hauz Khas.
“Police team conducted a raid and apprehended four accused persons from the spot. The gang members confessed to have committed more than 100 burglaries across India including places like Faridabad, Jodhpur, Aurangabad, Gulbarga, Vapi, Bengaluru, Pune and Mumbai,” said the additional CP.
“They carried weapons and house breaking tools with them and In case, they even held people hostage in case, anyone in the house woke up during theft,” said the additional CP.
Police have also recovered one country made pistol, two push button knives, four live cartridges and house breaking implements from the possession of the accused, police said, adding further investigation is underway.
