District police have busted a gang of drug peddlers from Chintaman area and nabbed eight members of gang and recovered100 gm Brown Sugar (heroin) worth Rs 1 crore from their possession on Sunday.
Police said that acting on a tip-off regarding two men carrying drugs were tracked near Chintaman area and when they were frisked Brown Sugar (heroin) was recovered from their possession.
Initially the two managed to escape from the spot but were nabbed by the police. The nabbed were identified as Gopal and Shankar.
Police said that the details of procurement and delivery of the drugs would be searched in the further investigation. After the initial investigation police have registered a case under sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act.
During the investigation police have found that the two work with gang of drug peddlers and bought drugs from Rajasthan and would sell in different parts of the Ujjain and nearby areas.
The accused confessed involvement of six members of gang and based on the information accused were arrested from raiding the Topkhana, Begumbagh, Kot Mohalla who used to sell drugs and were identified as Amaan Qureshi, Azam Baig, Shadab, Nana, Lalit and Aman.
From these drug peddlers police have recovered 95 grams of smack which is international value is in crores. It is being told that these people used to sell half a gram for Rs 300.
