Go for Covid test if you have mild fever: Advises Health Director

Friday, 26 November 2021 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

People suffering from mild cold and fever are advised to immediately go for Covid-19 test for everyone’s safety, said Health Services Director Bijay Mohapatra on Thursday.

He told reporters that the virus has been mutating as people with mild cold and fever are found infected with Covid-19 these days. Hence, people should get themselves tested as soon as they develop the flu-like symptoms.

Regarding detection of positive cases at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, and a Government school in Sundargarh, he said both areas have been declared as containment zones and there is no need to panic as the infection has spread in a few specific belts. The severity of the disease is also less among the infected.

“The Health Department and the district administration have kept a close watch on the situation. Authorities concerned have been asked to keep hostels under surveillance. Hopefully, the rate of transmission will be under control within next four to five days,” he added.

Mohapatra regretted that people are not properly following Covid-appropriate behaviour at public places which may have dangerous consequences in coming days. He urged people to avoid going out if it is not necessary.
