Gold rush: MP bags 7 gold, 3 silver medals

Host Madhya Pradesh performed wonderfully at the 31st National Canoe Sprint Junior, Sub Junior Boys and Girls Championship.

Madhya Pradesh won a total of 10 medals including seven gold and three silver on the first day. Balveer Jat, Aastha Dangi and Kaveri won two golds each.Under the joint aegis of the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association and Madhya Pradesh Kayaking and Canoeing Association, this competition was held at lower lake.

Balveer Jat won the gold medal in the Junior Men's K-1 event. N. Investment Singh won the silver and T. Engaseram of Odisha won the bronze medal.

 In the junior K-1 women's category, Binita Chanu of Madhya Pradesh won the gold, Pukhrambam Rosi Devi of Odisha won silver and Royna Devi of Manipur won the bronze. In junior boys K-2, Balvir Jat won the gold medal by pair of Devbrat Singh.

This is Balveer's second gold medal.

Madhya Pradesh's Akshat Baroi, Devbrata Singh, Nitin Verma and Shivom Yadav won the silver medal in the junior men's K-4. The gold medal was won by the team from Uttarakhand. In women's K-4, Aastha Dangi of Madhya Pradesh, Deepali Hooda, Niharika Jaiswal and Savita Devi won the gold medal. Kerala won the silver medal.

Devendra Sen of MP won silver medal in Junior Men's C-1. Ribasan Singh of Uttarakhand won gold and Gyaneshwar Singh of Odisha won bronze. In the junior women's category, Kaveri of Madhya Pradesh won the gold, Megha Pradeep of Kerala won the silver and Neha Devi of Odisha won the bronze. In Men's C-2, the pair of MP Sonu Verma and Yogesh won the silver medal.

In women's C-2, Kaveri Damar and Shivani Verma pair won gold, Kerala's Akshaya Sunil and Megha Pradeep won silver.Earlier, the competition was inaugurated by GL Yadav, head coach of Arjuna Awardee MP Water Sports Academy.

On this occasion Madhya Pradesh Kayaking and Canoeing Association President RS Tomar, Executive Chairman PS Bundela, Competition Director Mayank Thakur, Organizing Committee Chairman RS Kumbhakar and others were present.
