Govt to give tablets to Abhyudaya students

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's government will provide tablets to the students registered with its ambitious Abhyudaya scheme which provides a preparation platform fir students preparing for competitive exams.

A provision of Rs 20 crore has been made in this regard in the budget presented on Monday.

Presenting the budget, Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that there was immense enthusiasm among the youth of the state for the free 'Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana' coaching scheme launched to make the youth of the state successful in various competitive examinations.

Under the scheme, the state government will provide tablets to the students on the basis of eligibility, so that they may prepare for competitive examinations through digital learning. Appropriate funds will be arranged in this regard.

The Yogi government's fifth budget has a special focus on youth.

According to the finance minister, the youth power and energy are strong carriers of development of society. "We have given special attention to the all-round development of the youth section of society. Our priority is to enhance the skills of the youth of the state so that they may make full use of employment opportunities," the finance minister said.

While referring to the concept of 'Digital Village', the finance minister said that the development of digital villages would provide better connectivity to the youth of rural areas so that they were familiar with the global scenario of education and employment.

Not only this, it has been decided to develop and strengthen the infrastructure facility in aided non-government secondary schools and government Sanskrit schools. Poor students studying in Sanskrit schools will be provided free hostel and food facilities as per Gurukul system.

The minister said that by organising career counseling programmes in the state, unemployed youth were provided information about available employment opportunities and employment training, etc., so that they could get employment according to their skills and abilities.

In the current financial year up to October 2020, as many as 943 such programmes were organised, in which more than 52,000 youth participated.

Model Career Centres have been set up at various places in the state under the National Career Service Project. Now there are also plans to set up model career centres in 12 other districts of the state.

Khanna informed that in the last four years more than seven lakh youth have been trained by Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission and more than three lakh youth have been linked with employment.

A provision of Rs 8.55 crore is proposed for the Youth Sports Development and Promotion Scheme in the budget. To provide better sports opportunities to the youth in rural areas, a provision of Rs 25 crore is proposed for the construction of rural stadium and open gym.
