Aiming to attract investments into Uttar Pradesh, the state government has decided to set up private industrial parks in several districts on public-private participation (PPP) model.
The districts earmarked for setting up and development of these parks include Lucknow, Unnao, Amethi, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Auraiya, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Azamgarh, Ambedkarnagar, Gorakhpur and Prayagraj.
“The first Expressway Industrial Park in the state will be built in Unnao along Agra-Lucknow Expressway. For this land has been identified in Barauli Kalan village of Unnao. Industries manufacturing textile and ready-made garments, and those in food processing, perfumes, brass products, toys and electronic equipment can be set up in these private industrial parks,” a government spokesman said in Lucknow on Thursday.
“Last year, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced plans to give facilities to entrepreneurs building industrial parks, logistics and warehouses in the private sector. Changes were effected in the UP Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion Policy-2017 so that private sector entrepreneurs could set up industrial parks in at least 20 acres of land in Bundelkhand and Purvanchal in the state. Following concessions announced by the government, investors came forward to build private industrial parks for which the Industrial Development department has identified about 9,000 hectares of land in 15 cities,” the official said.
“Soon private investors will be allotted land on liberal terms for industrial projects to be taken up in their various areas. Industrial development will accelerate with this campaign, as well as direct and indirect employment opportunities will be created for lakhs of people,” the government official said.
“The project will be developed on a PPP model. The purpose of this exercise is to promote the industries of the state and increase economic activities through the expressway. Now the movement of goods from Western UP to Central UP, Purvanchal and Bundelkhand is going to be faster and easier. There is also a plan to set up a private industrial park on the land of Auto Tractor Limited in Pratapgarh as its plant shut down operations in 1972,” he said.
All facilities for industrial units will be available at a single premise. The manufacturing zone of the park will have flat-like factories and factory sheds. Common facilities include business and shopping centres, incubation centres, hotels and restaurants, hostels, office blocks, health and communication facilities, police and fire stations.
“Under logistics, facilities like warehouse, container and truck terminal, railway siding infrastructure, fuel station will also be available along with a green zone,” the official said.
