Minati Rath, In-Charge Principal, Panchayat Samiti Higher Secondary School, Bangomunda, Balangir district, was on Monday arrested by the Vigilance police for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000.
She was caught red-handed while receiving the money from complainant Dolamani Meher, Assistant Librarian, of the school for not suspending him from service. Residential house of Rath at Jhankarpada, PS-Bangopada, Bolangir was searched. A case was registered. Similarly, on the day, Prasant Kumar Mohapatra, former Geo Tag Youth of Bolagarh Block, Khordha, was arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000.
He was caught red-handed during a trap, while receiving money from complainant Bikash Kumar Swain of Khanguria village, Bolagarh to influence the GPEO, Bolagarh for processing file for marriage registration certificates in favour of Swain's cousins.
