Gur festival from today

Saturday, 06 March 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

With the aim to promote jaggery, the Uttar Pradesh government is organising a two-day Gur Mahotsav in Lucknow from Saturday, Sugarcane Minister Suresh Rana said.

He said jaggery was known for its delicate taste and medicinal value. "The jaggery producers have somehow failed to find a market because of the faulty policies of the previous governments," the minister said.

He said that the festival was scheduled to be held last year but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was postponed and was being held this year.

"The Gur Festival will be showcasing the branding of jaggery. The farmers from every corner of the state will take part in this festival and will share their knowledge," Rana said.

As per the details, stalls of jaggery chocolates, sweets, candies, and kheer have been set up.
