Haryana CM approves 218 new schemes of Public Health Engineering Dept

Haryana Government on Saturday approved 218 new schemes costing Rs 245 crore and six schemes costing Rs 49.27 crore of Public Health Engineering Department in the 52nd meeting of Haryana State Drought Relief and Flood Control Board held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here in Chandigarh.

Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare MinisterJP Dalal were also present in the meeting.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioners in the State and Superintending Engineers (SEs) of line departments to ensure speedy implementations of these schemes with a target to complete all short term schemes by June 30, 2021. 

The Chief Minister also directed the officers of Public Health Engineering Department to coordinate with the Deputy Commissioners and District Municipal Commissioners to draft separate dewatering plans for those areas which have not been included in the schemes approved in today’s meeting so as to deal with the problem of water logging in such areas.

During the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Devender Singh said that the Irrigation Department by taking further the State Government’s vision of water conservation has laid more thrust on water conservation and land reclamation in addition to its mandate to save the state from fury of floods.  He informed that the 218 schemes approved in today’s meeting include water conservation, reclamation, protection of Abadi/Agriculture Land, Procurement of Flood Machinery and Repair/Reconstruction of Bridges/Structures etc.

He informed that last year no flood situation along River Yamuna though some districts like Hisar, Sonipat, Ambala, Jhajjar Jind, Julana experienced water logging due to localized heavy rains.  He said that all the flood protection schemes proposed were reviewed and recommended by the Haryana State Advisory Committee in the meeting held on January 6, 2021 under the Chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Sanjeev Kaushal.

He further intimated the success of last year’s executed land/soil reclamation pilot schemes and said that the same have been proposed to be replicated on a wider scale to other districts to reclaim the submerged areas whereby saving crops and increasing agriculture produce.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also launched a web portal for “Micro Irrigation Initiative” on the web site https://cadaharyana.nic.in  for inviting applications from the farmers/WUA.

The launch is with the motto “Suksham Sinchai Se Har Khet Mein Pani” which is a step towards automation. A project, inclusive of watercourse for installation of Community Based Solar/Grid Powered Integrated Micro Irrigation with subsidy at the rate of 95 percent on Micro Irrigation (MI) system will be taken up through the portal.

Farmers or groups of farmers have to come forward with the chak of minimum 25 acres to adopt MI in their fields.  Further 100 percent consent of stakeholders (Farmers) for adaptation of MI system with 5 percent MI cost contribution and free land for tank at the rate of 2 kanal for 25 acres chak will be main requirement from farmers end. Therefore construction of storage tanks, solar pumps and on farm micro irrigation components like drip and sprinkler shall be provided by Government on subsidised rates in a transparent manner through this web portal.
