Haryana Health Min: Rollout of Covid vaccine from Jan 16, 67 lakh people to be given vaccine shots

Haryana Home and Health Minister Anil Vij on Sunday said that the rollout for Covid-19 vaccination in Haryana will start from January 16 and 67 lakh people belonging to three categories including healthcare workers, frontline workers, people aged above 50 and those below 50 years but with co-morbidities in Haryana will be given vaccination shots.

The Minister said that adhering to the guidelines issued by Central Government, State Government will first be administering COVID vaccination shots to healthcare workers, frontline workers, and people aged above 50 and those below 50 years but with co-morbidities like sugar and heart patients etc.

Divulging details about the number of such people in Haryana, the Health Minister said that the number of health care workers in the state is expected to be around two lakh while the number of frontline workers will be around 4.50 lakh. The frontline workers will include employees of Urban Local Bodies, Safaikarmacharis, Police, Civil Defense Personnel, Jail Staff and Revenue Department employees. Similarly, about 58 lakh people who are aged above 50 and about 2.25 lakh people below 50 years, who are suffering from other diseases, will be given vaccination shots.

The Health Minister said that on January 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will start the vaccination drive.  During this period, there will be 107 session sites in Haryana identified for administering vaccination to health workers. However, later the number of these sites will be increased to 700.

 About two lakh health workers in Haryana will be administered COVID-19 vaccine at these sites.

He further informed that as many as 5044 vaccinators have registered themselves on Co-WIN app.

Similarly, 765 Public Health Facilities, 3634 Private Health Facilities have been registered on Co-WIN app.  Besides this, as many as 1005 supervisors and 18921 social sites have been registered on Co-WIN app.

Vij said that adequate arrangement has been made by the State Government ensuring proper maintenance of cold chain equipment in the state.  A state-level vaccine store has been set up in Kurukshetra, Haryana to carry COVID-19 vaccine among the masses. Apart from this, regional vaccination centres have been set up in Hisar, Gurugram, Rohtak and Kurukshetra.

The Minister said that district vaccine stores have been set up in all 22 districts of the state, not only that 659 cold chain points have been made at the Primary Health Centre level.

Besides this, 22 insulated vaccine vans will be made available in all districts of Haryana and a micro plan has been prepared for COVID-19 for all districts.
