Haryana reports 3,845 fresh Covid cases, 16 deaths

Witnessing another major surge in Covid-19 cases, Haryana on Tuesday reported 3845 fresh infections, the highest single-day spike since the Covid-19 pandemic began. 16 people also succumbed to the virus in the state in the last 24 hours.

A day before, the state had recorded 3818 cases and 16 fatalities.

According to the state’s Health Department’s bulletin, three people died in Karnal, two in Fatehabad, one each in Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonepat, Hisar, Ambala, Panipat, Bhiwani, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Sirsa, Mahendragarh in the last 24 hours.

Gurugram district continued to be worst affected and recorded the highest number of fresh infections at 998 followed by 417 in Faridabad and 324 in Karnal. Among other districts, Sonepat reported 246 cases, Hisar 121, Ambala 137, Panipat 227, Panchkula 278, Kurukshetra 143, Yamunanagar 177, Fatehabad 204, Jind 115.

There were 316 critical COVID-19 patients in the state out of which 259 were on oxygen support while 57 were on ventilators.

The active cases were recorded at 24207 till the evening. The worst affected district -Gurugram reported the highest number of active cases at 6459 followed by 2410 in Faridabad. Till date, 297039 patients (including 2109 in the last 24 hours) have recovered from the virus in the state.

Over 66.52 lakh samples have been tested till date in Haryana, the bulletin added.

The fatality rate was recorded at 1.02 percent in the state. The COVID positive rate was 4.89 per cent and recovery rate was recorded at 91.53 percent.

 

397 NEW CASES IN CHANDIGARH, 1 DEATH

Chandigarh on Tuesday had 397 fresh cases pushing the infection count to 31,564 and with the death of one person, the toll reached 401.  The number of active cases rose to 3370, a medical bulletin said. A total of 381 patients were discharged after they recovered from the infection, taking the number of cured persons to 27,793. So far, 346,766 samples have been taken for testing. As many as 3896 beneficiaries were given the Covid-19 vaccine at 55 sites in the city and with this a total of 125,624 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the city so far.

 

11 DEATHS, 619 FRESH CASES IN HIMACHAL PRADESH

Eleven people succumbed to COVID-19 in Himachal as 619 fresh positive cases surfaced on Tuesday.  With this, the total case tally reached 71394 while the death toll stood at 1122 in the hill state, according to the Himachal’s evening health bulletin.

Three deaths each were reported in Kangra, Mandi and Shimla while two deaths were reported in Una in the last 24 hours, the bulletin stated.  Of the 619 fresh cases, a maximum of 148 cases were reported in Kangra district followed by 104 in Solan.

There were 6269 active cases in the state till the evening. Kangra remains the worst affected district with the highest number of active cases at 1349 followed by 1214 in Solan and 686 in Una.  Till date, 63966 people have recovered from the virus in the state. 407 people recovered in the last 24 hours. Over 13.47 lakh COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state till date, the bulletin added.
