The Gwalior Bench of the Madhya Pradesh has constituted a high level commission to conduct inspections of nursing colleges being run in the Gwalior-Chambal Division. The order of the High Court is in response to a PIL filed by one Hari Om of Bhind district.
In his submission, the petitioner had alleged that many nursing colleges in the district got recognition from the university and are being run on the basis of bogus certificates and documents.
He had further claimed that most of the nursing colleges don’t have the required land, buildings or infrastructure to run a college.
Taking a serious note of the complaints the High Court constituted a three member commission consisting of Hitendra Dwivedi, OSD of the Gwalior Branch of the HC and senior advocates of the HC, Sanjay Dwivedi and Vijay Dutta Sharma to conduct surprise inspections of the nursing colleges. For inspection at Shivapuri, Bhind, Morena and Datia the commission will additionally include the respective Additional Sessions Judges and Deputy Collectors.
The HC has instructed the commission to conduct surprise checks at the nursing homes and ascertain the facts. They were also told to inform the petitioner at least one day in advance before going on inspection so that he can provide the necessary information. The commission has been further asked to submit a report within two months and the HC has set October 25 for the next hearing.
