HIGHEST TURNOUT IN MANSA, LOWEST IN MOHALI

The voting turnout recorded a new high in general or by-elections of eight Municipal Corporations and 109 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats of Punjab with 71.39 percentage of votes have been polled with the maximum number of voters cast their votes in Mansa district, and lowest in SAS Nagar (Mohali) district.

The state Election Commission spokesperson on Sunday said that in SAS Nagar, the voting turnout was recorded 60.08 percent, while Roopnagar's voting figure has gone up to 73.80 percent.

“The voting percentage in Fatehgarh Sahib have achieved 75.78 percent mark, Amritsar scored 71.20 percent, Tarn Taran 63.12 percent, Gurdaspur 70 percent, Pathankot 75.37 percent, Bathinda 79 percent, Mansa 82.99 percent, Faridkot voting percentage reached at 71.03 percent, while in Hoshiarpur total 66.68 percent and Jalandhar's poll percentage reached 73.29 percent mark,” said the spokesperson.

Spokesperson said that 64.34 percent voters exercised their right of franchise in Kapurthala, besides poll percentage have reached 69.71 percent in SBS Nagar, Ferozepur have scored 74.01 percent voting, Sri Muktsar Sahib district gained 68.65 percent voting tag, Moga 69.50 percent, Fazilka have marked 72.40 percent, Patiala 70.09 percent, Ludhiana managed to get the turnout figure on 70.33.

Apart from this, Barnala district attained 71.99 percentage mark, though Sangrur have administered the mark of voting at 77.39 percentage.
