Himachal CM starts vaccination campaign from IGMC, Shimla

Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur started the Covid-19 vaccination campaign in the State from IGMC Shimla and said in the first phase of Covid-19 vaccination, 93,000 doses would be administered to the front line warriors including health care workers of the State.

He said that 2,529 health care workers were administered dose through 27 identified sites in the State on Saturday, adding that about 74,500 health workers would be vaccinated and each beneficiary would be provided two doses and a second dose would be administered after an interval of 28 days.

Thakur said the State Government had constituted a State Level Steering Committee, State Task Force, District Task Force and Block Task Force to monitor effective administration of vaccination of Covid-19.

He said the State Vaccination Store had been set up at Shimla while the Regional vaccine store had been established at Mandi and Dharamshala. He said that District Vaccine Stores had been set up in all the 12 districts of the State besides 386 cold chain points in the State.

The CM said AD syringes in sufficient quantity as per beneficiary has also been received by  the State and has been distributed to the districts and additional stock of 0.5 ml AD syringes had been stored at State Vaccine Store, Parimahal, Shimla, Regional Vaccine Store, Mandi and Regional Vaccine Store Dharamshala to meet out any situation.

He added Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) management training had been given to the session site vaccinators for establishing referral mechanisms and reports on COWIN app.

Thakur said AEFI Committees at State and District level had also been notified with additional members of Pulmonologist and Medicine Specialists for casualty assessment of AEFI cases.

The CM added to ensure the success of the vaccination campaign dry run had also been organised at various identified sites. He also urged the people of the State to ensure that all precautions are maintained despite having administered Covid 19 vaccine.

Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Secretary Health Amitabh Awasthi, Mission Director NHM Dr. Nipun Jindal, Director Medical Education Dr. Ravi Sharma, Principal IGMC Rajneesh Pathania, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

Later on, Thakur visited the identified site under Regional Hospital at Mandi and also reviewed the work plan for Covid-19 vaccination and bird flu situation in the district. 

He expressed satisfaction over the decline of Covid-19 cases in the State and said that the Covishield vaccine would give safe and expected results in eradicating covid cases in the State.

On the first day of vaccination, he  took stock of the established Covid vaccine centers at Vijay Senior Secondary School, Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College and Hospital, Civil Hospital Sundernagar and Karsog, where 360 health workers were administered the vaccine. 

He directed the officers concerned regarding micro plan of vaccination campaign which would be completed in 161 phases in 111 centres of the district covering 11,877 beneficiaries upto February 1, 2021.
