64 fatalities, highest ever in a single day were reported in Himachal on Tuesday as 4977 fresh COVID-19 cases surfaced in the state. With this, the death toll reached 1989 while the state’s cumulative tally reached 140759, as per the state's health bulletin.
A day before, the state had reported 53 deaths and 4359 COVID cases.
The bulletin stated, there were 36232 active cases in the hill state. In the last 24 hours, the worst affected district Kangra reported the highest number of 21 deaths. 12 deaths were reported in Solan, 10 in Mandi, 7 in Shimla, four each in Sirmaur and Una, three in Chamba, two in Hamirpur and one in Kullu.
Of the fresh cases, Kangra reported the highest 1504 infections. 881 cases were reported in Mandi, 583 in Shimla, 443 in Hamirpur, 335 in Bilaspur, 313 in Una among other cases. Out of total active cases in the state, Kangra reported the highest number of 10745 active cases followed by 3936 in Mandi and 3841 in Solan.
3098 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 102499 in Himachal, the bulletin stated. Notably, the State Government has imposed a ten-day Corona curfew from May 7 to 17 to control the spread of the virus.
