In view of surge in Covid-19 cases in the state, Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday urged the people of the hill State coming back from other parts of the country to quarantine themselves at their homes as a precautionary measure.
“The residents of Himachal coming back home from other states should quarantine themselves as a precautionary measure,” said the Chief Minister after paying floral tribute to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar here.
Notably, the government in its fresh guidelines has advised the persons coming to Himachal from seven-high loads to carry negative RT-PCR reports for COVID-19 from an ICMR accredited or approved laboratory issued not earlier than 72 hours.” These states include Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Punjab.
A day before, the Chief Minister had assured that tourists visiting the state will not be harassed for a COVID-19 negative test report on the state’s borders and a mechanism has been put in place for monitoring tourists on their arrival at the place of their stay.
CM PAYS FLORAL TRIBUTES TO DR AMBEDKAR
The Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur paid floral tribute to the Father of Indian Constitution and first Law Minister of India Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his 130th birth anniversary by garlanding his statue at Ambedkar Chowk here.
Thakur while talking to the mediapersons said that Dr Ambedkar not only drafted the Constitution of India, but also took up various issues of the poor, downtrodden, scheduled castes and other wearer sections of the society.
He said that Dr Ambedkar felt that education was the right weapon to fight social slavery and it can enlighten the downtrodden masses to come up and gain social status, economic betterment and political freedom.
The Chief Minister further said that Dr Ambedkar devoted his whole life to fight the eradication of caste by proliferating a movement against the evils of the caste system.
Dr. Ambedkar made all his efforts to change the hierarchical structures of Indian society and restoration of equal rights and justice to the marginalized and abolition of untouchability, he added.
