Hindalco’s Samri Mines promotes women in sports

Samri Mines, a unit of Hindalco Industries Limited, has stepped forward to champion local women sporting talent. The mining division has provided financial assistance of ` 25,000 to Indian Women‘s Baseball teamsenior player Anjali Khalko for the Senior National Championship to be held in April 2021. This amount will help Anajali purchase a baseball kit to strengthen her game ahead of the upcoming championship. This gesture by Hindalco’s Samri Mines comes on the back of financial support of Rs. 80,000 that was provided by the company, to support Anjali’s participation in the baseball championship held in China earlier.

The amount was presented to Anjali Khalco at the company’s office in Kusmi on Friday. Accepting the amount, Anjali said, “I appreciate the support that Hindalco has given me today and earlier during the baseball championships in China. I will use this money to buy a practice kit which will help me strengthen my preparation. This encouragement by Hindalco’s Samri Mines motivates me to strive harder and make a mark in the field of women’s baseball, in India and internationally.”

Rajesh Ranjan Ambasht, Head of Mines Division, Samri, said, “It is heartening to see the emergence of women sporting talent in games like baseball. We believe sports can play a definitive role in women empowerment, and we are happy to support promising women sporting talent in Chhatisgarh, like Anjali Khalco.”

Several significant social projects are being undertaken by the Samri Mines team, in health, education, infrastructure, drinking water and other areas in the mining sector. CSR Chief Vijay Mishra, Rohit Shrivastava, Assistant Khan Head Rajkumar Sinha, Rajesh Ghosh, Parvati Kavi, Yogendra Lilhare and others were present at the event.
