Joint secretary in the Home Department, Dhirendra Kumar Upadhyay, was suspended by the state government on Thursday night.
According to an official communiqué released on Thursday night, Additional Chief Secretary (Secretariat Administration) Hemant Rai issued the suspension order of Upadhyay on the directions of Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Kumar Awasthi.
During a preliminary inquiry, it was found that Upadhyay, during his posting in the Home department, indulged in irregularities and issued letters to district administrations without taking the necessary consent of his seniors.
During his suspension period, Upadhyay will be attached with the Section-1 of the Secretariat Administration.
