A Committee of the State Assembly led by Deputy Speaker Rajanikant Singh visited several villages in Jharsuguda and settlement colonies of Ib valley and Lakhanpur field area under MCL on Sunday .
They discussed with the displaced persons of Khairkuni, Tingismal, Darlipur and Ubuda villages and at the colonies at Mirdhadera and Khadam-2 regarding problems faced by them after rehabilitation.
As stated by the displaced persons, although their lands have been acquired from 1980 to 2017, they have not been settled yet, neither have they been given any job.
The homestead lands have not yet been handed over to them after identification, they told The committee members listened to the complaints of villagers at a review meeting held in the evening at the OPGC Resource Centre.
The review meeting was organised under the direct supervision of district Collector Saroj Kumar Samal. Samal realised that no basic amenities have been provided to the displaced persons by the mines management. Inspite of repeated reminders by the Government officials, their problems are not sorted out for which he expressed his displeasure on the mines authorities present in the review meeting.
Committee chairman Rajnikant Singh also showed his discontent over displacement and settlement issue. He assured that injustice to the Hirakud displaced families would not be tolerated.
