ICCR Bhopal organises ‘Adivasi Shaila Nritya’ prog

Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Regional Office, Bhopal organised an event under the online Horizon series, ‘Adivasi Shaila Nritya’. It was organized under the Kala Vishwa - special campaign on Thursday.

 Kala Dal Jai Manas Folk Nritya Group from Chhindwara gave his splendid online performance in the musical evening of folk dance at ICCR, Bhopal. The dance performances were directed by Vijay Kumar Bandewar.

They performed Saila, Gedi and Gondi dance.

Tribal Shaila Dance  is a folk dance mainly performed by tribals mainly in tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh by tribal Subak Murlis expressing happiness on various Teej festivals, and seeing their bountiful crops, through this dance the youth- The girls put together a rock and put a pot on their head in different forms, tribal head dhoti-kurta, gamchha girls wearing solar hand bushes in ornaments, wearing karkarki hamel, kamarpata etc. and using drums, tasha, flute and timki in musical instruments. This dance is performed in its own form by making various pyramids to the tune of Shaitam Karma etc. Especially this dance is performed on Hariyali Teej festival and Pola and Rakshavadhan festival in the month of Sawan and Bhado, through this dance, a cart made of bamboo sticks is also used. Due to being muddy at the time of rain, "Gadi" was used as a means of commuting.

Jai Manas Lok Nritya Dal District  Chhindwara (M.P.) has performed in Kanyakumari, Nagaland, Assam, Tripura, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Bihar, U.P. Delhi, Mumbai, Chhattisgarh and M.P. In various districts of the "National level" has given its presentation with 20 member teams.
