PUNJAB CM EXTENDS ALL SUPPORT TO SGPC

Chandigarh:  Extending his government’s full support to the solar plant project for Darbar Sahib, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder on Saturday said he had already directed the Power department to accord approval to the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for installation of the plant and work proactively to ensure its early completion.  The Chief Minister was responding to the statement of SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur about not getting sanction from the State Government for the solar plant project for supply of electricity to Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. A spokesperson of the Government said that in a meeting held earlier this week, the Power department had already pledged full support to the project. The US-based United Sikh Mission had sought permission to  set up Solar plant of 2 MW capacity at a location about 10 kilometres from the Golden Temple, to which the government had no objection and PSPCL had given in-principle approval, said the spokesperson.

HP CM hails recommendations of GST Council

Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday welcomed the decision of the 44th GST Council meeting to reduce the GST rates on the specified items being used in Covid-19 relief and management till 30th September, 2021.  The 44th GST Council meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman through video conferencing.

Thakur appreciated the decision to reduce GST rate on ambulances from 28 percent to 12 percent, gas/ electric/other furnaces used for crematorium from 18 percent to 5 percent and exempt Amphotericin B (medicine used in treatment of Black fungus).  The Chief Minister also welcomed the proposal to reduce GST rate from 12 percent to 5 percent on medical grade oxygen, ventilators, oxygen concentrator/ generator, ventilators masks,  canula and helmet, BiPAP machine, high flow nasal canula device, Covid testing kits, pulse oximeters and drugs used for Covid treatment recommended by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. He said that the recommendations of the Council to reduce GST rates would provide a much needed relief to citizens.

Maharana Pratap Jayanti: HP Guv,CM greet people

Shimla: Governor Bandaru Dattatraya and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur have felicitated the people of the State on the occasion of Maharana Pratap Jayanti.  Dattatraya said that Maharana Pratap was a brave and courageous warrior. He said that the life of Maharana Pratap inspires the young generation to adopt the qualities of valour, self respect and patriotism.  In his message, Thakur said that Maharana Pratap was a real patriot who fought relentlessly for the cause of the country. His sacrifice inspired the people to uphold the unity and integrity of the country under all circumstances.

HP Red Cross organises blood donation camp

Shimla: The Red Cross on Saturday organised a blood donation camp in association with Sant Nirankari Mission which was inaugurated by Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, who is also the President of Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross Society. The Chairperson of State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section Dr. Sadhna Thakur was also present on this occasion. About 104 units of blood were donated during this camp in which all volunteers of the Mission participated. The Governor and Dr. Thakur honoured the blood donors on the occasion.

PGIMER to carry out serological survey of kids

Chandigarh:  PGIMER Director Dr Jagat Ram on Saturday said that the institute will start a serological survey of children in the age group of two to 18 years within a week to check the prevalence of antibodies against the Sars-Cov-2 pathogen in them. It is a first of its kind to carry out a serological survey of children in the country, he added. He said that the sample size of the survey would be 2,400 to 2,500, and it will be aimed at identifying the prevalence of Covid-19 at the community level and monitoring its transmission trends. The results of the samples would be out within one month of the launch of the survey, given that an anticipated third wave is expected to affect children more than adults,” Dr Jagat Ram said.
