farmers’ tractor rally in Haryana's Ambala

Ambala: Farmers protesting against the Centre's three new farm laws took out a protest march on their tractors here on Saturday, raising slogans against the Union and the state governments.  The farmers gathered at a grain market near the Ambala-Hisar highway in the morning and then marched towards Ambala cantonment, leading to traffic snarls in the city. Bhartiya Kisan Union spokesperson Harbans Singh Manakpur dubbed the march a rehearsal for the proposed tractor parade of January 26.  He said the protests would continue till the Centre repeals the three farm laws enacted in September last year. Meanwhile, heavy police force was deployed at the grain market in the wake of the protest march.

Jalandhar: Industrial consumers of Jalandhar city and surrounding areas will now no longer have  to wait for the release of new industrial connections, a prèss note issued by PSPCL here said. DPS Grewal that Punjab State Power Corporation limited has completed a few pending 66 kv system/ transmission  works  in Jalandhar city and surrounding areas  within less than 5 months and the corporation has spent  an expenditure of 21.34 crores for the works. He said that on one hand the demand of industry has been met and PSPCL will also get  revenue  from the industrial consumers also.

 

Modi, Amarinder effigies burnt in Mohali

Mohali: Youth Akali Dal activists led by its President Parmbans Singh Romana on Saturday burned effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh here. The protests were held at all the district headquarters as per call given by the Shiromani Akali Dal. Protest here was organized in front of Gurudwara Singh Shaheedan Sohana where effigies of both the leaders were burnt by YAD activities and slogans were raised against Modi and Amarinder Govts.

 

Haryana naming places, roads after martyrs

Chandigarh: Haryana Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma on Saturday said the state Government is naming several public places and roads after the martyrs to honour them.  Speaking as the Chief Guest at a meeting organized to pay a tribute on the sacrifice day of the martyr King Nahar Singh in Ballabhgarh, the Transport Minister said that the martyrs belong to the whole society, not to any caste. Recalling the sacrifices of King Nahar Singh, he said that the King had sacrificed his life in the revolution of 1857 and had prepared an important role in the liberation of the country. He also remembered the martyr Bhura Balmiki and the martyr Gulab Singh Saini.  Sharma also paid homage on the death anniversary of the leader of farmers Sir Chhoturam, saying that he was a true patriot and farmer friendly leader.

 

facilities at dairy complex Yamunanagar

Chandigarh: Haryana Education Minister, Kanwar Pal on Saturday said that all facilities will soon be made available in the dairy complex at Yamunanagar so that the general public can be benefited along with the dairy operators. Along with this, plots will soon be made available to the dairy operators wanting plots in the dairy complex.  Addressing a meeting of municipal authorities in Yamunanagar,  he said that the target is to make Jagadhri-Yamunanagar Twin City the number one municipal corporation in Haryana. Cleanliness should be maintained in the city to curb the spread of disease. He also directed to complete all the projects and schemes being run by the Municipal Corporation at the earliest and also to completely stop the use of polythene in the city.

 

 

‘admit children of labourers to schools’

Chandigarh: Principal Secretary, Development and Panchayats Department, Sudhir Rajpal on Saturday directed the officers concerned to make arrangements to admit the children of labourers or poor families who are unable to go to school to government schools or nearby Anganwadi. He directed that for this a list of children who roam at different places on construction sites and in the cities should be made.  Addressing officers of various departments in a review meeting of ongoing development works in Palwal district, he directed to distribute mid-day meals to students at their homes. Apart from this, he also reviewed the construction work of Hathin bypass and works related to acquiring land for the same. Similarly, he reviewed the work regarding generating IDs related to agricultural land and non-agricultural land under e-governance. was reviewed. He said that from next month, the work of e-Girdawari will be started under 'Meri Fasal, Mera Byora'.
