Red Cross members mourn former employee’s death

BHUBNAESWAR: Life members of the Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch mourned the untimely death of former employees of the branch Biranchi Kumar Patnaik. He was an affectionate and sincere employee, who had good understandings on Red Cross activities. Senior life members Dr Dwarika Nath Mohanty, Dillip Dashsharma, Prassana Rath and Ghanashyam Mallik expressed condolences over his demise and consoled his family members.

GIFT distributes food to homes in BBSR

Bhubaneswar: The Glory of International Foundation Trust (GIFT) distributed food packets to the homeless near the Lingaraj Temple near the railway station and in various other places on Sunday. The programme was led by GIFT chairperson lawyer Sangeeta Patnaik.

G’pati: Groom penalised Rs 15 K for flouting Covid norm

Paralakhemundi: A fine of Rs 15,000 was slapped on a bridegroom, B Kuramnukulu, at Tatipeti under the Gurandi police limits in Gajapati district as the marriage ceremony was being held in violation of the Covid guidelines on Sunday. A team led by BDO-cum-Law & Order Magistrate Kishore Chandra Das and Gurandi PS OIC Mamata Panda had conducted a raid on the wedding venue.

Sabuja Bahini holds blood donation camp for Covid-hit

Brahmapur: A blood donation camp was organised by social organisation Sabuja Bahini in association with the Brahmapur Blood Bank here on Sunday. The programme titled 'Asantu Gadhiba Rakta Sampark' is an initiative to arrange bloods for Covid patients. A total of 11 units of blood were collected in the camp. The programme was coordinated by organisation president Sibaram Panigrahi.

Keonjhar Divisional Traffic Inspector dies of Covid

Keonjhar: Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, who was working as Divisional Traffic Inspector at the Keonjhar railway station, died of Covid on Wednesday. He lived with his wife and two daughters. Mohanty was initially treated at his Keonjhar home after being diagnosed as Covid positive. He was then admitted to the SUM Ultimate hospital in Bhubaneswar as his condition became critical. His death has grieved his elderly parents, wife, two daughters, elder brother, relatives, friends and colleagues.

Sunabeda municipal coordinator a Good Samaritan

Sunabeda:  During these difficult times, a person who stands with people all along is Sunabeda municipal community coordinator Chittarnajan Sahu. He voluntarily took the task of providing food in slum areas, distributing pensions for elderly, undertaking waste management, delivery of medicines and helping homeless and beggars here.

Andhra youth drowns in Mahendratanaya

Paralakhemundi: The Gurandi police here on Monday found a dead body of a youth from the Mahendratanaya river. Police registered a case and sent the body for postmortem to the DHH. The deceased was identified as B Balakrishna (18) belonging to Andhra Pradesh. He had come to Machumara village to attend a marriage function and drowned while bathing.
