ECR observes Int’l Level Crossing Awareness Day

On the occasion of International Level Crossing Gate Awareness Day, a massive awareness campaign was conducted in all the divisions of East Central Railway on Thursday. During this time, distribution and place of banners, pamphlets and handbills among road users in Sonepur, Samastipur, Danapur, Dhanbad and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay mandals for the purpose of providing information related to the precautions to be taken while crossing the level crossing gates with unmanned / human beings. Street plays were organized at the place. Along with this, counseling of gatemen and common people was also done. It may be noted that International Level Crossing Gate Awareness Day is celebrated every year on 10 June to prevent accidents at railway crossings. During this, members of Railway Protection Force, Scouts and Guides etc. apprised the people about the precautions to be taken while crossing the railway crossing. Appealing to the road users that your life is priceless, in such a situation, be patient when the railway gate is closed and cross the railway track only when the gate is opened. Never use earphones/mobiles etc while crossing the railway track.

Special Vaccination Camp at DPS Bokaro

In a bid to combat COVID-19, a special vaccination camp was organised at DPS Bokaro Sector 4, by the District Administration for teachers and the staff of the school on Thursday. The district administration, in association with the Sadar Hospital, organised the special camp. Over a hundred teachers, staff and their family members took the vaccine (Covishield) in the special camp. Principal, DPS Bokaro A. S. Gangwar thanked the district administration for organising this special camp for the teachers and staff. “Vaccination is a must for all and everyone should ensure that they get vaccinated and follow the safety measures to help stop the spread of the pandemic,” he urged.

SER’s environment friendly initiatives

As a part of environment friendly initiatives, South Eastern Railway has been adopting a number of measures for Water Management and Solid Waste Management over its jurisdiction. Six Water Recycling Plants have been commissioned so far in S E Railway jurisdiction for treatment of waste water and reusing it. Two such Water Recycling Plants have been installed at Digha and one each at Chakradharpur, Jharsuguda, Ranchi and Hatia.  Total 29,869 KLD Water Recycling is being done in the four Divisions of SER i.e. Kharagpur, Adra, Ranchi and Chakradharpur. With a view to collect rainwater for future productive use, Rain Water Harvesting System has been installed at 78 locations in four Divisions of SER. This has helped in proper conservation of water and optimum use of the same. Besides, 2 Combined Sewage Treatment Plants of capacity 5 KLD each commissioned at Digha Station are helping to recycle and reuse the waste water. In addition to the above, 32 Water Metres have been installed at 15 stations of Kharagpur Division to measure water flow for conservation of water.
