BOY DROWNS IN SUBARNAREKHA IN BALESWAR
Baleswar: A 12-year-old boy was feared to have drowned in the river Subarnarekha under the Baliapala police limits in Baleswar district on Monday as he couldn’t be traced by a fire brigade. The boy, identified as Subham of Dharmadwara village, had along with his younger brother gone to fetch river water after a holy dip at the Siadi Ghat on the occasion of the first Monday of holy Shravan month.
PROF PALITA ACTS AS VC OF CUO
Koraput: Noted academic and scientist Prof Sharat Kumar Palita now holds the charge of Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Odisha (CUO), Koraput. Consequent upon the appointment of Prof Kshiti Bhusan Das, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the university as Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Jharkhand, senior-most professor Palita has been given this responsibility. Prof Palita has a teaching career spanning 38 years.
SABUJA BAHINI HOLDS VAN MOHASTAV IN B’PUR
Brahmapur: The Brahmapur Sabuja Vahini and the Bhajaram Vihar Development Council of Brahmapur celebrated the 72th Van Mohastav on Sunday at Bhajaram Vihar Road. As many as 100 saplings and fruit-bearing trees were planted. The programme was coordinated by Sibaram Panigrahi, Banamali Pradhan and SK Ravi Kumar.
