Vehicular communications on the Namangarh-Ajaygarh road in Gumma block of Gajapati district was hit due to landslide on Sunday. However, no loss of life was reported. According to reports, the landslide was caused due to incessant rain triggered by the cyclonic storm Gulab.
After the incident, heavy machinery was used by the administration to clear the road and vehicles were diverted on the directions of district Collector Lingaraj Panda.Keeping in view, that the cyclonic storm would have more impact in the district five NDRAF and ODRAF battalions have reached here and deployed in the vulnerable areas in Kashingar, Gosani and other areas.So far, more than 2,240 persons have been shifted to 37 cyclone shelter in the vulnerable areas. The district administration as a precautionary measure prohibited visit of tourists to the Gandhahati waterfall. The devastation caused by the cyclone Titli is still imprinted in the minds of people, the news of cyclonic storm hitting district has triggered fear.
