The Aska police in Ganjam district have busted an inter-State bike lifting racket by arresting nine persons, including four motorcycle repair shop owners. The cops have recovered 21 stolen bikes from the bike lifters’ possession. The accused were identified as Ashwini Nahak, Prasanta Behera, motorcycle repair shop owners Kali Prasad Behera, Brajaraj Behera,Manoj Pradhan, Lokesh Jena and B Sunil.
Four receivers Sanyasi Gauda, Pintu Karzi and two others were also nabbed. Ganjam SP Brijesh Kumar Rai the accused used to steal bikes from various places under Ganjam, Gajapati and Brahmapur police districts and Andhra Pradesh.
Later they used to sell it to the motorcycle repair shop owners who used to dismantle the bikes and dispose the parts to scrap dealers. All the accused were forwarded to court and later sent to the Aska Sub Jail after their bail plea was rejected. The Aska police stumbled upon the racket while investigating two motorcycle lifting cases of Chaudhury Nagar in Aska town.
