Police on Saturday busted a betting racket which was placing bets online during final match of Indian Premier League (IPL) between CSK and KKR and arrested four persons in this connection in Malkangiri town. The police recovered Rs 8 lakh in cash and froze Rs 18 lakh in bank account allegedly being used for online transactions during gambling. Besides, the cops have also seized mobile phones, ATM cards, bank passbooks and other documents from their possession, police said.The accused were carrying out online betting through Freedom and Radhe mobile apps. These apps provide a username and password to punters to participate in betting after receiving money through net banking. Stating that these four bookies were operating in coordination with their associates in Chhattisgarh and were receiving a cut of thirty per cent, The accused would be interrogated further and an investigation is also on to arrest the mastermind of syndicate, police said.
