On the occasion of the National Technology Day on May 11, students and staffs of the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Brahmapur, have developed an innovative engineer-designed project, that is, a revolving car which rotates at an RPM of one per minute. This revolving car is driven by a 2-HP, 3-phase squeal case induction motor with a speed of 1480 RPM, The students have proved their skill and reduced the speed to 1 RPM by five stages using a V pulley, helical gears and bevel gears. The driving shaft, which is supported by two tapper roller bearings and one bell thrust bearing which, takes the load of the car.
According to ITI, Brahmapur Principal Dr Rajat Kumar Panigrahy, most of parts used in the car have been gathered from scraps and the other parts are designed and developed in die CNC tool room and turner workshop of the institute.
